Jim’s Seattle to Oceanside Ride

When Jim landed in Seattle and called the contact’s he’d made on Couchsurfing.com, they were so nice he wondered if it could even be true. “Are they going to bury me?” he asked himself. His hosts- Chris & Jaclynn- ended up showing him the film Inspired to Ride that evening. He enjoyed the fellowship of like minded folks, and knew his trip was off to a good start. Jim had decided to set out on his 1600 mile ride over the course of 18 days some time earlier. Team 659 Goes Enduro

Some of us from the 659 (Idyllwild’s telephone prefix) managed to get away from chilly weather for a fun day on the bike. For many, it was a first race or at least a first Enduro.   The event took place at Vail Lake, near Temecula, the day after the long running 12 Hours of Temecula. In late 2014 a perfect storm started brewing, as Idyllwild’s west side trails became “discovered” for trail riding, and our own embrace of Trail & Enduro as a great format to complement the XC & Endurance styles of riding we’ve been doing so well with since we opened the shop. At the same time, Intense has been absolutely killing it … Continue reading Intense Cycles at The Hub/ Bike of the Year

Saddledrive Highlights, Reviews, and Thoughts For 2015

QBP & Salsa Cycles had me out to their annual Saddledrive product release & dealer camp at Snow Basin, near Ogden UT these last few days. I came back energized and excited to be a part of the growing “Adventure by Bike” category.  My two days were spent meeting with folks- brand reps, technicians, and other dealers- and discussing the ways the new bikes might be able to benefit our riding communities. We exchanged ideas, learned a bunch, and rode some great bikes. I’ll get into the particulars of the bikes in a moment. First, a couple ideas that I … Continue reading Saddledrive Highlights, Reviews, and Thoughts For 2015
