Intense Cycles at The Hub/ Bike of the Year

We’ve recently brought in a good representation of Intense Cycles complete bikes. And to this guy, it feels like coming home.

We’ve been an authorized Intense dealer for years, but until recently we hadn’t been doing much with the brand. In late 2014 a perfect storm started brewing, as Idyllwild’s west side trails became “discovered” for trail riding, and our own embrace of Trail & Enduro as a great format to complement the XC & Endurance styles of riding we’ve been doing so well with since we opened the shop. At the same time, Intense has been absolutely killing it as a brand, coming out with fresh models spot on for the job.

At Interbike 2014, the Tracer Carbon T275 won Interbike Bike of the Year. And we nabbed that bike for Ben, our customer in the desert.
Ben’s bike features Intense’s Factory Build, which is the no-holds-barred, all out top shelf spec. SRAM XX-1 drivetrain, the incomparable Pike RCT3 fork, Monarch Plus shock, and Enve AM wheelset leaves nothing to dream for.

And… then Ben’s friend, Ray got a Tracer Carbon T275, Pro Build… a super smart build spec featuring SRAM XO-1, a Pike fork, Flow wheelset, and Renthal cockpit. Killer bike that rips.

Aaaand then… for Phil, we picked up the incomparable Carbine 29, regarded as one of the top big-wheeled Trail/Enduro bikes in the industry. We spec’d this bike in the Pro Build, similar to the Tracer Carbon T275 but with the Cane Creek Double Barrel Inline rear damper, and obviously with 29″ wheels. For Phil’s application- trail riding and the occasional Super D, there is no better choice.

For Spring 2015, we have brought in Four on the Floor. We have in stock, ready to rock two Carbine 275’s in Foundation Build, and two Tracer Carbon T275’s, one in Foundation build (with a Pike!!) and one in the Pro Build, similar to Ray’s bike, above. The Carbine 275’s pack a ton of value, with the Shimano SLX drivetrain, X Fusion Sweep fork set to 160mm travel (I’ve ridden it, it is legit) and a price that makes these bikes utterly accessible. The Tracer Carbon T275 in Foundation Build steps up the fork to a Pike, and features the upgraded frame with internal cable routing, beefier tube diameters, and some geometry tweaks. The Pro Build, as we all know… is killer. Come in and check out these bikes for yourself- they’re rad.

As trail riding just gets better and better in Southern California, and Idyllwild in particular, we are especially happy to forge a closer relationship with Intense. It’s true to our roots, with Intense being the definitive SoCal brand, and with Mary and I sharing a great history with the company. After being employed by the Intense in 2006 and 2007 before setting off to build my own bikes… I feel we’ve come full circle to closely work with the brand in our little family owned bike shop. Life is good.
