Congratulations are in order to Glen, who just yesterday completed his 3500 mile journey across the United States.
He did his ride in 40 days, starting in San Francisco and ending in Yorktown, VA on his Surly Long Haul Trucker. You can read about his trip on his blog, Glengoesonabikeride.
Glen’s Long Haul Trucker was purpose built, and ready for cross country riding right out of the box. It features a comfortable & strong chromoly frame and stable geometry. The drivetrain is smart, with a wide range of gears on the triple crankset and an 11-32T cassette that provides both a nice spread of ratios but also close enough intervals to feel good on the road. Frame details include mounts for just about any rack system, cantilever brake bosses, 3 bottle mounts, and emergency spoke holders (spokes included).
We made some minor changes to his bike, installing a Brooks saddle and dialing in his fit. He installed racks, loaded up his gear… and just started riding. What a ride!
